Milton Grange No. 685, in collaboration with Greenfield Grange No. 807, hosted a wine tasting at The Saratoga Winery in Saratoga on Saturday, Nov. 12, to benefit farmers in Schoharie County recovering from flood damage caused by hurricanes Irene and Lee.
In addition to tasting five different wines made by the Saratoga Winery, over 100 attendees sampled several varieties of local raw milk cheese donated by Willow Marsh Farm of Ballston Spa and sesame flavored artisan crackers donated by Saratoga Crackers of Greenfield.
Music was by provided by Adirondack folk musician Dan Berggren. The organization Schoharie County Community Action Program was chosen to distribute the funds. The proceeds donated to SCCAP were earmarked specifically for farm recovery. Marcy Holmes of SCCAP was presented with a check for just over $2000 at the Milton Grange’s monthly meeting in December.
