ALBANY COUNTY A 19-5 run in the third quarter helped Shaker defeat Troy 45-33 in a Suburban Council girls basketball game Friday, Jan. 22.
The Blue Bison trailed 18-13 at halftime before taking the lead for good in the third quarter.
Shyla Sanford had 13 points, and Audrey Martino added 12 points for Shaker. Sabrina Wolfe led Troy with 12 points.
In other Suburban Council action, Bethlehem defeated Mohonasen 59-45 in Rotterdam. Jenna Giacone scored 18 points, and Emily Wander contributed 11 points for the Lady Eagles.
Guilderland jumped out to a 17-6 lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 58-43 win against Ballston Spa. Olivia Bauman netted 24 points, and Skye Lindsay chipped in with 18 points for the Lady Dutch. Olivia Allrich had 17 points for the Scotties.
Colonie ran away with a 67-23 win against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. Aliyah Wright poured in 17 points, and Alivia Paeglow added 13 points for the Lady Raiders, who led 24-8 after the first eight minutes.
In the Colonial Council, Ichabod Crane fended off Watervliet 53-51 in Valatie. Ali Changa scored 35 points for Watervliet in the loss.
Voorheesville built a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in dispatching Fonda 55-45. Rachel Blow scored 15 points for the Blackbirds, while Julianna Taylor led the Braves with 13 points.
