ALBANY COUNTY Lansingburgh fended off a late rally by Voorheesville to pull out a 49-45 victory in a Colonial Council girls basketball game Friday, Jan. 8.

The Knights led 44-33 with less than four minutes left in the fourth quarter when the Blackbirds began their comeback. Voorheesville scored 12 of the next 15 points to close the gap to 47-45 and had a chance to tie the score in the final 30 seconds before Saige Roberts sank a pair of free throws with nine seconds left to seal Lansingburgh’s victory.

Roberts finished the game with 20 points, including a pair of key three pointers in the third quarter that helped Lansingburgh break open a close game. Gessica Patregnani contributed 17 points.

Rachel Blow had 15 points to lead Voorheesville, including a three-pointer that made the score 47-45. Rachael Bogdany added 11 points for the Blackbirds.
