The Christian Brothers Academy hockey team is still searching for its first league win of the season.
The Brothers (0-5-0 league, 3-7-0 overall) turned in a strong defensive effort, but they had a difficult time mustering any sustained offense in a 3-1 Capital District High School Hockey League loss to Bethlehem Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Albany County Hockey Training Facility.
Goaltender Jared Vandeloo kept CBA close by stopping 23 shots, but Bethlehem (3-2-0, 4-6-0) netminder Carl Cusack was better, as he made 18 saves on 19 shots.
Hayes Meredith scored two goals, and Thomas Liebold contributed two assists for Bethlehem, which ended a three-game losing streak. Peter Galica had CBA’s lone goal.
The Brothers faced a similar scenario in a 3-1 league loss to LaSalle Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Hudson Valley Community College. Vandeloo was good, as he made 17 saves, but CBA’s offense struggled to get shots past LaSalle’s Zach Hurst, who also had 17 saves.
Logan DiScanio, Sean McLaughlin and Zach Watkins tallied for LaSalle (2-2-0, 4-6-0), while Alex Cardinale scored CBA’s goal.
The Brothers return to action Wednesday, Jan. 14, against Shenendehowa (3-0-0, 6-4-0) in Clifton Park. Then, they visit Queensbury (0-2-0, 3-9-0) Thursday, Jan. 15.
