Senior Kelly Lane pitched a no-hitter to lead Colonie past Averill Park 5-0 in Friday’s Suburban Council South Division softball opener.
Lane struck out 12 and allowed only four Averill Park batters to reach base — one on a walk, one on a hit batter and two on errors.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning. That’s when Colonie’s Marisa Sholtes and Kassidy Ogren hit back-to-back home runs to blow the game open. Sholtes’ shot was a three-run blast, while Ogren belted a solo homer.
Stephanie Reinhardt and Sam Blum each had a pair of hits for Colonie.
