The Loudonville Christian School boys basketball team solidified its hold on first place in the Central Hudson Valley League with Thursday’s 61-41 home victory against second-place Germantown.
The Eagles (9-0 league, 12-1 overall) broke open a close game by out-scoring the Clippers (6-2, 7-5) 19-8 in the third quarter.
Gabe Brown and Mat Yamin each scored 17 points, and James Hilton added 14 points for Loudonville Christian. Tyler Fuchs had 16 points for Germantown.
Boys swimming
Ballston Spa built a 44-point lead and held on for a 92-86 victory over Saratoga Springs in Thursday’s Suburban Council boys swim meet in Ballston Spa.
Chris Vesic led the Scotties with wins in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Nick Pascucci (200 individual medley), Aaron Soden (diving), George Stack (100 butterfly) and Jesse Haraden (500 freestyle) also recorded individual victories for Ballston Spa.
Alex Danielson (200 freestyle), Greg Kelly (100 backstroke) and Ethan McAuliffe (100 breaststroke) had wins for Saratoga Springs.
In another Suburban Council meet, Shaker pulled away for a 105-81 victory at Bethlehem.
Timothy Buff earned wins in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke to lead the Blue Bison. Andrew Semmes (200 freestyle), William Matz (100 butterfly), Brian Nolte (500 freestyle) and Ryan O’Connor (100 breaststroke) also picked up victories.
Gunnar Zemering had wins in the 50 and 100 freestyles for Bethlehem. James Starr added a victory in the 1-meter springboard diving competition.
The Shenendehowa boys swim team improved its record to 9-0 with Thursday’s 104-71 victory over Guilderville in Clifton Park.
Luke Gordon led the Plainsmen with victories in the 100 and 200 freestyles. Mike Conley (200 individual medley), Ryan Gordon (50 freestyle), Adam Bonk (diving), Connor Killane (100 butterfly) and Eric Burdge (500 freestyle) also had individual wins.
Gavin Bigge (100 backstroke) and Reid Zyniecki (100 breaststroke) had wins for Guilderville.
