The Saratoga Springs girls soccer team ended Niskayuna’s bid for a perfect season by beating the state’s No. 1-ranked Class AA team 2-1 Thursday.
Emily Wickert scored midway through the second half to break a 1-1 tie for the Blue Streaks. Alex Parry tallied in the first half, and goaltender Carley Slade made six saves.
Hailey Golub scored the lone goal for Niskayuna (13-1-0).
In another Suburban Council girls soccer game, Bethlehem shut out Mohonasen 2-0. Tara Teal and Stephanie Dootz scored the Lady Eagles’ goals, and Katie Nickles made nine saves for the shutout.
Saeeda Abdul-Aziz had eight saves for Mohonasen.
Columbia shut out Colonie 4-0 in a Suburban Council South Division game. Lindsay Mulligan tallied twice, and Amanda DeBarr contributed a goal and an assist for the Blue Devils.
Boys soccer
Shenendehowa needed overtime to edge Shaker 1-0 in Thursday’s Suburban Council North Division boys soccer game.
Tucker Martin scored in the second 10-minute overtime period for the Plainsmen, and goaltender Justin Rohrwasser made two saves.
Thomas Macutek stopped five shots for Shaker.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake also needed overtime to defeat North Division rival Ballston Spa 2-1 Thursday. Luke Cameron scored with one minute left in the second overtime period to give the Spartans the victory.
Brian Pfeil scored off a corner kick in the first half for BH-BL, and Devon Hilson tallied the equalizer for Ballston Spa.
Girls swimming
Undefeated Shenendehowa swam past Shaker 101-80 in Thursday’s Suburban Council swim meet.
Angela Ferlo (200-yard freestyle), Jennifer Lucius (50 freestyle), Sydney Weiskopf (diving), Emma Rupert (100 freestyle) and Shelly Zhang (500 freestyle) earned individual wins for the Plainswomen.
Elizabeth Morgan (200 individual medley), Talia Sternbach (100 butterfly), Kristen Moras (100 backstroke) and Natalie Rumpelt (100 breaststroke) won their races for Shaker.
Elsewhere, Bethlehem edged Mohonasen/Schalmont 94-87 behind Grace Ayer’s two-win afternoon. Ayer finished first in the 200- and 100-yard freestyles.
Lauren Zemering (50 freestyle), Kessler Thompson (diving) and Kelsey Bohl (100 butterfly) also won individual events for the Lady Eagles.
Rebecca Nelson led Mohonasen/Schalmont with wins in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke. Nicole March took first place in the 500 freestyle, and Kameryn Paige won the 100 backstroke.
Ballston Spa defeated Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 89-81 in another Suburban Council girls swim meet.
Paris Walkowiak finished first in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, and Alyssa Gardiner took first place in the 200 individual medley for the Scotties. Sara Swett won the 200 and 500 freestyles for the Lady Spartans, while Shawna Weaver (100 butterfly), Gabrielle Rotunda (100 backstroke) and Meghan Pettit (100 breaststroke) added individual victories.
