Shenendehowa eased past Niskayuna 107-79 in Wednesday’s Suburban Council girls swimming showdown in Clifton Park.
Emma Rupert won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke to lead the Plainswomen (7-0), earning state meet qualifying times in the process. Bridget Geary (50 freestyle), Sydney Weiskopf (diving), Jessica Wang (100 butterfly), Tarah Killane (500 freestyle) and Julia Samson (100 backstroke) also won individual events.
Kina Zhou took first place in the 100 and 200 freestyles for Niskayuna (5-1).
In other girls swimming action Wednesday, Saratoga Springs defeated Ballston Spa 99-85. MacKenzie Gaze (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly) led the Blue Streaks with a pair of individual victories, while Jane Rice (diving), Alison Canjura (500 freestyle) and Caroline Conboy (100 breaststroke) added wins.
Paris Walkowiak won the 100 and 200 freestyles for Ballston Spa. Stefani Schmitz finished first in the 50 freestyle, and Kristina Keefe won the 100 backstroke for the Scotties.
Boys volleyball
Shenendehowa improved its Suburban Council record to 11-2 with Wednesday’s three-set sweep against Shaker in boys volleyball action.
Ryan McSwiggin had nine kills, and Austin Jensen contributed five kills and five aces for the Plainsmen (13-4 overall). Josh Olsen chipped in with eight kills and four blocks.
Shen won its three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18.
Field hockey
Shen improved its record to 8-4 with Wednesday’s 1-0 Suburban Council field hockey victory over Shaker in Latham.
Shaker’s record dropped to 2-8.
