Tara Teal scored two goals to lead the Bethlehem girls soccer team past Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 3-2 in Thursday’s Suburban Council action in Delmar. Teal’s first goal came 37 seconds into the match, and her second helped the Lady Eagles (4-0-0) remain undefeated for the season. Stephanie Dootz also tallied for Bethlehem in the meeting between the defending Class AA and A champions. Goaltender Katie Nickles made seven saves. Morgan Burchhardt scored in the first half, and Skye Kaler added a second-half goal for the Lady Spartans (2-2-0). In other Suburban Council action Thursday, Guilderland and Shenendehowa battled to a scoreless tie. Guilderland goalie Jenna Cubello had nine saves, and Shen netminder Makala Foley stopped five shots. Both Guilderland and Shen are 2-1-1 for the season.
Boys soccer
The Shenendehowa boys soccer team failed to win for the first time this season, as the Plainsmen and Guilderland played to a 0-0 tie Thursday in Clifton Park. Goaltenders Danny Juers and Patrick Gerstenberger combined for a total of seven saves for Shen (3-0-1). Guilderland netminder Kedrick Weeden had five saves. Elsewhere, Ballston Spa (1-3-0) earned its first Suburban Council victory of the season by edging Columbia 3-2 at home. Andrew Gondek, Connor Defillipis and Nick Comiskey scored for the Scotties. Guilderland posted its biggest victory of the season by sweeping defending Section II Class AA champion Shenendehowa 3-0 in Thursday’s Suburban Council girls volleyball match. The Lady Dutch won by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-16. Allison VanDoren recorded nine kills, 14 service points and 10 digs to lead the Lady Dutch (5-0). Kayla Myers contributed four kills and six blocks. Gabby Agresta posted seven kills, and Michelle Paulser added six kills and 10 blocks for the Plainswomen (3-1).
