By now, you’ve hopefully read our season preview for Section II Class AA football. Now, it’s time for you to vote for the team you think will win the Sectional championship in November. Here are your choices:
Shenendehowa — The defending champions lost several people from last year’s team, most notably program founder and longtime coach Brent Steuerwald. Now, it’s up to new head coach Brian Clawson and a group of players who saw significant playing time in 2011 to continue the tradition.
Columbia — Last year’s surprise success story graduated several key offensive players, but the Blue Devils still have leading rusher Chris Smith. That makes Columbia dangerous again.
Ballston Spa — The Scotties have hung around the upper half of the Empire Division for several years and played in the 2010 Sectional final. Even though the majority of Ballston Spa’s skill players are new starters this year, a veteran offensive line and the Scotties’ double-wing formation should help them remain highly competitive.
Shaker — The Blue Bison have a healthy quarterback (Chris Landers), two strong running backs (Kenny Jackson and Ryan Griffin) and a key wide receiver (Austin Drescher) back for another run at the Liberty Division title.
Christian Brothers Academy — Speedy running back Cameron Wynn makes the Brothers a contender in the Empire Division.
Now that you’ve been introduced to the contenders, tell us who you think will win it all. Voting continues until midnight Monday.
