VOORHEESVILLE — The Blackbirds lost a Class D heartbreaker at home to Greenwich, 20-17.
Voorheesville had a 10-7 lead going into the half with Jaden Bright hitting Eric Richardson with a 13-yard touchdown and soccer standout Lily Farrell hitting a field goal.
Matt Conlin, who was playing with a broken hand, had an 81-yard touchdown run for the Witches.
Quarterback Ryan Ingber scored in the third to give Greenwich a 14-10 lead after three. Bright scored on a one-yard touchdown up the middle in the fourth to give Voorheesville a 17-10 lead but Ingber scored on a 30-yard scamper for the final score of the game.
The Blackbirds did threaten late in the fourth but penalties moved them out of field goal range.
Voorheesville (2-1, 1-1) will play at Chatham on Friday, Sept. 23.
