CLIFTON PARK — After a thrilling sudden death shoot-out win over Shaker to advance to the Suburban Council semis, the Guilderland field hockey team’s season came to an end at the hands of Shenendehowa by a score of 5-1.
The Lady Dutch played Shen even in the first quarter but gave up two goals in the second and were down 5-0 at the end of three. Hannah Risko put Guilderland on the board in the fourth quarter to avoid the shutout.
Hannah Merritt and Rachel Sterle each scored twice for Shen while Julie Kuzmich added a goal.
Standout keeper Bianca Simeone had 24 saves for the Lady Dutch while her counterpart, Payton Kisling, had one.
Shen will play Burnt Hills, who beat Saratoga in a sudden death shootout, for the Suburban Council championship.
