BETHLEHEM — The Eagles outlasted the Falcons in the first round of the Class AA tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 26 by a score of 72-57.
Albany, the No. 13 seed, came out fast and hard taking a 20-8 lead after one and a 37-24 lead into halftime.
But Bethlehem, the No. 4 seed, chipped away at the lead in the third and then exploded for 31 points in the fourth quarter for the win.
Bethlehem will now play the No. 5 seed from Niskayuna on Saturday, Feb. 29. Tip is slated for 2 p.m. Bethlehem beat Nisky 56-50 in the last game of the season on Feb. 18.
The winner of that game will play in the semifinals on Tuesday, March 3 against the winner of No. 9 seed CBA and the No. 1 seed from Shen.
Against Albany, Will Davis had 19 points to lead Bethlehem while Marko Gibbons had 17 and Zach Zonca had 10. Isiah Austin had 24 for Albany to lead all scorers and Kevin Seel had 12.
