BETHLEHEM — In front of a large, loud homecoming crowd, The Eagles rolled over Colonie by a score of 30-0 on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Bethlehem moves to 3-2 with three games left and is on the bubble to make the Class AA playoffs with Guilderland also at 3-2 and CBA at 3-1.
Bethlehem will host the 4-1 team from Burnt Hills, who are playing in Class A, on Oct. 11. On Oct. 18 the team will travel to Niskayuna (0-5, 0-5) and will finish out the regular season on Oct. 25 in Schenectady (2-2, 3-2.)
The game against the Raiders from Colonie (0-4, 0-5) could have been a bigger blowout.
The game started out with Nick Zigrosser sacking Colonie quarterback Cameron Avery in the endzone for a two-point safety and then Bethlehem quarterback Derek Martelle scored a touchdown on a two-yard run to give The Eagles a 9-0 lead after the first quarter.
Nick Gicewicz scored two touchdowns, a seven-yard run and a two-yard run, in the second quarter to give Bethlehem a 23-0 lead at the half.
Martelle scored his second of the game on a seven-yard run in the fourth to round out the scoring.
Colonie will look for its first win of the season at home against Niskayuna on Friday, Oct. 11.
