COLONIE — The Albany Dutchmen will begin the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League Playoffs on Thursday, Aug. 1.
With two regular season games left before the playoffs, the Dutch are in third place in the East, 4.5 games behind league leading Amsterdam and four games behind Mohawk Valley.
On Saturday, July 27, the Dutch won the first game of a double header 7-2 over the Oneonta Outlaws while the second game ended in a 3-3 tie after eight innings.
Nick Melillo, of Siena, went 3 for 3 with three RBIs to lead the Dutch against Oneonta in game one while Aaron Roose, of Azusa Pacific, went 2 for 2 and scored three runs.
Blake Bales, of Virgina, started game one and gave up two runs on seven hits. Joe Kruszka, of UAlbany, relieved Bales in the sixth and pitched two scoreless innings.
Ben Bianco, of Lousisville, went 3 for 4 for Oneonta in game one.
Parker Noland, of Vanderbilt, went 2 for 2 for the Dutch in game two while Melillo went 1 for 1 for 3 with two RBIs.
Dave Yankowski, of Canisius, went six innings for Oneonta, giving up three runs on six hits, while Greg Allard, of Saint Rose, started for the Dutch, going four innings and giving up two runs on four hits.
