BETHLEHEM – Everyone knew The Eagles – undefeated in conference play – were the favorites headed into a home game against Shaker-Colonie on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
But nobody expected a 7-0 rout.
Bethlehem (9-0-1, 12-3-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one with Justin Chenaille scoring three times in three minutes and two seconds. On the first, he was assisted by Dylan Kowalsky and Jonathan Thibodeau and the second two were unassisted.
Those three goals were sandwiched in between two by Thomas Liebold, the first on an assist by Thibodeau and the second by Chenaille and Henry Kopplin.
Mike Bievenue scored in the second for The Eagles on an assist by Matt Bievenue and Chenaille, and Chenaille scored his fourth goal of the night in the third on an assist by Mike Bievenue and Liebold.
In goal, Alex Breiner had 10 saves for the Eagles and his counterpart, Dan Malloy, had an amazing 53 for Shaker-Colonie (4-6-1, 4-10-1.)
Bethlehem will host LaSalle on Friday, Jan. 26, and Shaker-Colonie will play CBA at the Albany County Hockey Facility on Saturday, Jan. 27.
