COLONIE – Less than 24 hours after losing a heartbreaker against defending state champion Mamaroneck, the Bethlehem hockey team downed Cortland-Homer 6-1Saturday, Nov. 26, to finish the Shaker/Colonie Thanksgiving Tournament with a 1-1 record.
The Eagles struck for four goals in the second period to blow the game open. Zach Nunez had two of the four goals and finished the game with a hat trick to lead the offense.
Brian Harder contributed a goal and two assists for Bethlehem, and goaltender Alex Breiner stopped 17 shots.
The Eagles saw a 2-1 lead evaporate in the third period against Mamaroneck, as the Tigers rallied for a 3-2 win Friday, Nov. 25.
Michael Carducci’s goal midway through the third period tied the score at 2-2 for Mamaroneck (2-0-0). Two minutes later, Harrison Fried tallied the game-winning goal.
Connor Carroll and Hayes Meredith scored in the first period to give Bethlehem a 2-1 lead.
