BETHLEHEM — Eric Macknight breezed to the men’s overall title at a chilly Delmar Dash Sunday, April 3.
The 27-year-old from Ballston Lake took off quickly from the starting line and stayed away from the rest of the pack to win the 5-mile race with a time of 25:22. Macknight’s first mile was clocked at 4:59, well ahead of the pace set by the rest of the top 10 runners.
Albany’s Aaron Lozier was second with a time of 27:08, nearly two minutes behind Macknight’s pace. John Farley of Albany was third with a time of 27:21.
High school star Julia Flower of Rotterdam won the women’s title. The Schalmont High School standout finished with a time of 29:35. Karen Bertasso was second with a time of 30:04, and Brittany Winslow of Queensbury placed third with a time of 30:35.
Chris McCloskey was the first Bethlehem runner and the first male in the 30-34 age division to cross the finish line. The Glenmont resident finished seventh with a time of 28:09. Eamon Dempsey of Delmar was the second town runner to complete the course, as he placed eighth with a time of 28:11.
