GLENS FALLS — Top-seeded Shenendehowa will meet No. 3 Green Tech in the Section 2 Class AA boys basketball finals after each school won their semifinal games Thursday, Feb. 25, in Glens Falls.
Shenendehowa dispatched No. 4 Christian Brothers Academy 55-38, while Green Tech exacted revenge for its semifinal loss last year by beating No. 2 Guilderland 57-37.
Shen wasted little time in gaining a big advantage over CBA. The Plainsmen jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the first quarter and built a 26-8 halftime lead.
The Brothers bounced back with a 22-point third quarter to get within 11 points of Shen, but the Plainsmen clamped down on defense in the fourth quarter to pull away for the 17-point win.
Kevin Huerter poured in 26 points, and Luke Hicks contributed 22 points for Shen, which is one win away from repeating as Sectional champions. Sloan Seymour and David Kopyc each scored nine points for CBA, while Mike Wynn was limited to three points.
In the early game of the doubleheader, Green Tech rolled out to an 11-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in beating Guilderland.
Neftali Lind netted 16 points for Green Tech, while Michael Wine led Guilderland with 10 points.
Shen faces Green Tech Tuesday, March 1, at Albany’s Times Union Center.
