Jessica DeVoe of Trustco Bank presents a check for $1,000 to the Murphy family at the Sunday, July 29, Albany Dutchmen game against the Glens Falls Golden Eagles. Derek Murphy, 11, suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a debilitating disease that causes muscle tissue to break down rapidly. Earlier that day, a benefit softball tournament organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers was played at the Plumeri Sports Complex and raised nearly $2,500 for Muscular Dystrophy research. Accepting the check from DeVoe is Derek’s father, John Murphy (left). John also threw out the first pitch.
