Editor, The Spotlight;
What a weekend it was in June for Freedomfest 13. The weather was sunny and perfect, the veterans came and were honored, taps played for our fallen true. Then Paul Revere rode in to warn us, followed by the defeat of the Red Coats, who were soundly routed by Our Nobel Colonial Militia who stood and held their ground, and our countryside was saved from tyranny when our signers put their pen to the Declaration of Independence, while explaining to us why. Then the Civil Air Patrol came and demonstrated “love of one’s country” when they reenacted the Doolittle Raiders decision to launch! The speakers from as far away as Texas spoke wisdom and truth, and the sheriffs of three counties came with an encouraging word.
The plays and skits were memorable and touching as the vendors served scrumptious food while the children laughed and played colonial games or took hayrides around the event.
Our host, Camp Pinnacle, was gracious and pleased, and our Lord God in Heaven was honored and worshiped.
