Editor, The Spotlight:
For those readers accustomed to the “chambers of horrors” which often characterize the legislative landscape in our national and state capitals, there are positive developments to report locally. In Bethlehem, our Town Board is finding a way to function effectively after many years of political wrangling.
Under the steady and progressive leadership of Supervisor John Clarkson, the board has taken on the tough challenges related to the town’s long-term fiscal viability. Although progress on these fronts is by no means painless, we should expect our managers to deal transparently with our problems.
Following in the and civic-minded tradition of past Supervisors Terry Egan and Sam Messina, Mr. Clarkson is not a product of the political processes. Similarly, Town Board candidates (incumbent) Bill Reinhardt and newcomer Julie Sasso bring thoughtfulness and independence to the town’s legislative deliberations.
Supervisor Clarkson deserves an opportunity to continue managing the Town, and candidates Reinhart and Sasso will provide valuable support in maintaining the quality we have every right to expect from the town’s civic leadership.
