I am writing to support Bill Reinhardt in his run for Town Board. I believe Bill is pursuing election based solely on a desire to serve, and will have no agenda other than helping to guide town decisions to support the best possible results for all Bethlehem residents. He is well-informed on town issues, principled, civically involved and has lived in Bethlehem for more than two decades. He is raising a family, pursued a professional career as an energy and utilities expert and dedicated himself to social and environmental causes. Bill Reinhardt has all the right qualities for leadership on the board.
Bill is a fresh alternative to the usual political resumes and will help the town move forward. This year’s election for Town Board is critical, because we want to keep the forward momentum coming from the voters’ selection of an independent Democratic candidate for town supervisor (Clarkson). Bill supports reform – both for the town and for the Democratic Party organization. Bill Reinhardt is not a politician but a listener and a leader.
His opponent, Jack Cunningham, cannot offer us a fresh start. As the longtime vice chair of the Town Democratic Committee, he has been directly involved in the party’s failure to lead. Jack Cunningham was our town supervisor once. He lost to a third party candidate Sam Messina because of his top down way of doing business. Then he was part of the political obstructionism witnessed during Supervisor Messina’s term. But his loss was the beginning of Bethlehem politics moving forward, and this was continued when Jack’s candidate lost to our new supervisor John Clarkson. Now Cunningham wants back in, but we desperately need our board to be functional. We need a fresh start.
