Editor, The Spotlight:
My name is Abby Serfilippi, and I am a sophomore at the Academy of the Holy Names. For the past six years I have been actively raising money and awareness for seven local animal rescues and sanctuaries by selling homemade crafts my mom and I make. We are called Dust Bunny’s Boutique and all of our proceeds go directly to support the Woodstock Animal Sanctuary, the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Animal Protective Foundation, Farm Sanctuary, the Critter Connection, North Country Wild Care and the Catskill Animal Sanctuary.
This year, due to the generosity of the following local businesses, I have been able to raise more money during the spring and summer months. Each of these local businesses has allowed me to display and sell our famous Button Buddies in their stores which has greatly increased the donation I will be sending to each animal rescue group.
I would like to thank the Perfect Blend Cafe, Kleinke’s Farm and Little Anthony’s for allowing us to help these rescues and sanctuaries. I would also like to thank the KeyBank at the Four Corners for allowing me to display and sell our crafts in their lobby from Aug. 1 to Aug. 20. These businesses all allow me to help the animals in ways I never thought were possible.
I will continue to do this work throughout high school, and I will always be a voice for the voiceless.
