Editor, The Spotlight,
On Nov. 29, 2011, the Chipotle Mexican Grill was scheduled to open in the Mansion Square on Balltown Rd., this the newest business area in Niskayuna. On that Tuesday Nov. 29th the very day it was to open, in a very small article on the back page of the Local section of the Daily Gazette, Ms. Smith a spokeswoman for Chipotle, explained due to gas and electric issues that this was the reason they are prevented from opening. Since they do not have either gas or electric service, and they don’t know when or if they will have it, no new date for opening has been set. My oh my, it seems that the Niskayuna Planning Dept. and all who oversee these projects in town could do a better job. Certainly if they were to open that Tuesday there should have been a C.O. (certificate of occupancy) issued by the Town, and it should not have been issued without the gas and electric since that also has to be inspected. That area use to be one of the most beautiful areas in our town, but under the former supervisor Smith and his board, and the present Landry board, we now have what appears to be a dump. Thanks to all and let’s not forget John Roth the developer. Sally S. Lester
