To everyone who supported the Black Friday/Saturday Fair Trade Market at Delmar Reformed Church – THANK YOU!
We welcomed one thousand visitors through the doors over the two days. 20 vendors offered a huge range of beautiful, useful and fun handcrafted items. Overall takings to date (we’re still counting) have exceeded $24,000.
The money will support artisans and their communities around the world, including slum-dwellers in Kenya, women and girls rescued from the sex-trade in India and Cambodia, marginalised women in the U.S., minority communities in Guatemala, AIDS widows in Uganda…the list goes on.
I think the success of the Fair Trade Market clearly demonstrates that, even in these difficult economic times, people here in our local community care about others in our wider global community. They want to make purchases that also make a difference in the lives of those most in need.
So, very many thanks again – to the vendors, the volunteers and the visitors who made it such a worthwhile and memorable event! Thanks also to Delmar Reformed Church for generously hosting the market.
Season’s greetings,
