Editor, The Spotlight:
It is no big secret that the political system operates as a primarily binomial entity. Look at our presidents, our state and federal representatives; you will notice that the majority of them are either Democrat or Republican. Two choices. Check left, check right.
The Ballston First party line was formed to provide an alternative to divisive partisan politics by serving all residents as part of a politically diverse team. We are of diverse political registration, and the politically independent. We represent everyone regardless of party affiliation. Supervisor Patti Southworth, and Town Council candidate Bruce Hogan are registered Independence Party members, Town Council candidate Paul Simpson is a registered Democrat, and Town Clerk candidate Robert Ogle is not a member of any political party.
What we have in common is our desire to work together to promote responsible financial planning to keep the town tax-free, implement common business practices to reduce costs, and improve the quality of services by expanding office hours and modernizing the Clerk’s office and Town website. We believe that government needs to stop thinking of taxpayers as an unending source of revenue. Government functions to provide services to its citizens. In these tough economic times, we all need to learn how to do more with less and government must do the same.
On Tuesday, November 8th, I invite you to join me in demanding better value from your government, by selecting our candidates and put the Town of Ballston First.
