Historical Society

Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m.

The Historical Society of the Town of Colonie presents first-hand accounts of Albany survivors of the Titanic.

One survivor of the Sinking of the Titanic was Albany Native Gilbert Tucker. He was returning to Albany with three women, Lilly Potter, her daughter Olive, and Olive’s college roommate Margaret Hayes.

Arthur John Bright was an engineer and lookout on the Titanic. Bright commanded Inflatable Lifeboat D, the last lifeboat to leave the Titanic.

Bright and Tucker are both buried in Albany Rural Cemetery. And, all four left first-hand accounts. They are substantially different than anything you have ever heard before.

Presented by Peter J. Hess.

Pay fines online

Kept a book or DVD out too long? You can always stop by the checkout desk to pay your overdue fine – but a recent upgrade to our software lets you now pay online.

To access this feature, log into your library account (visit www.colonielibrary.org and click the “My Account” button on the left). Then click on “Fines/Fees” on the left and click the “Pay Online” button. This will allow you to pay with PayPal or a credit card.

Please note, there is a minimum payment amount. Please also visit the checkout desk if you have any questions about this new option, or give us a ring at 518-810-0319.
