Ever wonder how the Electoral College works?  Still viable, or antiquated and in need of reform?

On Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m., Dr. Anne Hildreth, Associate Professor Emerita from the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, will cover this important topic.

Please register online, by phone or in person.

Mother’s Day Marketplace

Take a leisurely stroll through our Mother’s Day Marketplace Saturday, May 11, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to find something delightful for anyone on your gift list, or treat yourself.

We’ll have 23 vendors on hand offering a wide array of health and beauty items, kitchen gadgets, fashion, purses, jewelry and much more.

Between this and our monthly Better Books Sale also happening on May 11, you’re bound to find something wonderful!

WMHT Presents

Join us Saturday, May 11 from 10:30 a.m. to noon as WMHT’s Barbara Lukas leads our annual Mother’s Day program, “Planting Love and Flowers for Mother’s Day.”

Preschoolers through Grade 1 are invited to plant a flower and vegetable to proudly present to Mom.

Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Register online, by phone or in person.

Kitchen Composting Made Easy

Composting garden and kitchen scraps is a great way to divert waste from landfills and improve soil texture and fertility.

Join Capital Roots Educator Francesca DiGiorgio for “Kitchen Composting Made Easy,” Saturday, May 18 at 2 p.m.

We’ll cover types of materials, how to keep your pile balanced and vibrant, and how to use the finished product.

Register online, by phone or in person.

NY Times Author John Leland

John Leland is the award-winning journalist and author of the book, “Happiness is a Choice You Make: Lessons From a Year Among the Oldest Old.”

He’ll be here Tuesday, May 21 at 7 p.m. to share his experience profiling six elders in New York City as detailed in his book, followed by a book sale and signing.

Due to unprecedented early interest, registration is nearly filled.

This talk will be livestreamed on the Library’s Facebook page and archived on our website, and is made possible through a collaboration with the Albany Guardian Society.

To register, please contact AGS at (518) 434-2140.
