Conquering Digital Anxiety

Find a newfound Zen in your digital life with sanity-saving tips from resident technologist Rebekah JarvisGirtler.

From addictive interfaces and sleep-disrupting blue screen light, to scams, glitches, anonymous harassment, and deceptive ads, you’ll learn practical strategies you can use to dial down the intensity level, take control of your media diet, and eliminate the clutter that is holding you back from enjoying your digital life.

Registration is required for the 2 p.m. event and can be done online or by calling (518) 810-0314.

The Fresh Air Fund
new host orientation

The Fresh Air Fund will be holding a new host orientation for all new families at 6:30 p.m. Families hosting for the first time this summer will receive this important information: what to expect at the bus stop; ideas for activities including Freebies for Fresh Air Kids; and overview of a “typical” visit.

Information will also be available for families considering hosting this summer or in the future.

Crafternoons

Last year, we debuted Crafternoons, a free monthly crafting class series for adults — and we have been having a wonderful time. In fact, the response has been so positive, we’ve expanded our creative offerings to include our twice monthly Fiber Club, where we exchange tips on knitting, crocheting, and more. Never crafted before?

Feel like you are “not creative”? That’s ok, our classes are fun and supportive, and we welcome beginners. Check our newsletter at http://colonielibrary.org for more information.

Renovation updates

Phase 1 of the Library’s construction project is officially underway.

This first leg of the project will include the creation of an inviting (and expanded) entrance area, all-new bathrooms, updated lighting and mechanical, and the relocation of some staff offices. The drawings with some of the first phase changes are available for viewing outside of the administrative office, behind the Information Desk.

Please bear with us as library renovations get underway. Check our website for the latest updates.
