What type of music do you listen to?
I don’t listen to too much music, other than what I’ve heard on the radio. But of the artists I’ve seen live, I’d say Bruce Springsteen and U2.
What are you watching on TV?
I don’t get a chance to watch too much. I’d say of the ones I get to see, I like to watch “Amazing Race.” I also try to watch college baseball games or MLB. And during the off-season, this is a Pittsburgh Steelers household, so we make sure to watch Steelers games.
What was the last book you read?
I try to read some books while I’m on vacation. The last one I read was “Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail.” — the one that Reese Witherspoon movie “Wild” was based on. I also like Malcolm Gladwell books. He’s the most frequent author I read.
What are some of your hobbies?
I like to golf. I don’t get to do it as frequently as I would like. We have two dogs that we spend a lot of time in the summer, and I take them up to my camp and take them out on my paddleboard or my kayak.
Who is the one person, dead or alive, you would like to meet and why?
I’d like to meet Derek Jeter. I’ve always just been impressed with the way he handled himself and played the game. I think he’s someone ballplayers can emulate.
Describe your favorite vacation.
We enjoy beach vacations where we get to relax and not do too much. We did go to the west coast of Costa Rica, and we did take a zipline through the canopy of the rainforest.
What is your favorite local memory?
My favorite local memory goes back to my time playing baseball with the Latham Padres in 1987 when we got to go to the Connie Mack World Series. We were the first local team to go to the Connie Mack World Series. We went 0-2, but our first game was against the Dallas Mustangs. When they introduced them, they said their record was 71-9. We lost that game 9-8. That was the year Brett Boone’s team lost to Ken Griffey’s team in the finals.
