When it’s time to change the oil, people bring their vehicles to one of three places – their dealership, their mechanic or a quick lube garage.
Easy Lube On-Site Oil Change brings the garage to the customer.
Started by Don DeMarco in May, Easy Lube travels to people’s homes, workplaces and other locations to provide oil changes and a 15-point service check to ensure their vehicles are in good shape.
“I wanted to save people from leaving their car at the garage – either to wait or be picked up, then having to get a ride back when their car is done,” said DeMarco.
DeMarco retired in 2012 and has been devoting his time to the Tyler DeMarco Foundation – a charity he and his wife started following the death of their son in 2010 from a rare form of childhood brain cancer. Last year, DeMarco thought up this business idea and just couldn’t get it off his mind. He did extensive research about creating a traveling oil change service before he opened Easy Lube. He was surprised to learn that his business idea was unique in New York.
“When I started to do my research, I found that New York didn’t have [traveling oil change services], but nearly every other state had them,” said DeMarco.
DeMarco said he usually takes about an hour to execute the oil change and inspect the vehicle for any issues involving the belts, hoses, tires, headlights, tail lights, filters and fluid levels. If there is an additional issue he can resolve for his customers, he will do it.
“I have all the same equipment, except the luxury of a lift I can stand under, so I do this ‘the old school way’ lying on my back,” said DeMarco.
DeMarco uses nothing less than a synthetic blend oil with all of his customers’ vehicles. Prices vary depending on the vehicle oil requirement, but DeMarco said he keeps his costs competitive with other service centers with the added convenience that you don’t have to rearrange your day for an oil change.
