DELMAR – On Wednesday, May 15, 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Mission for Marcus and Bethlehem Central School District are sponsoring a special program for all parents at Bethlehem High School. The keynote speaker will be Stephen Hill, a renowned national speaker on substance use prevention, mental health, and resilience.
Hill has a truly inspiring comeback story that everyone must hear. He is the founder of Speak Sobriety, a young person in recovery, bestselling author, recovery coach, and an attorney. Hill has presented in front of thousands of people for over 700 schools and coalitions across the country.
Through knowledge gained from his own personal and professional experience, Hill shows parents how to build resilient kids to make healthy choices and overcome adversity.

Hill will also be speaking with Bethlehem Middle School 9th grade students on May 17. He spoke with the school’s 8th grade students in October and all BC high school students in May 2023. This is an amazing opportunity for parents to use Stephen’s story as a platform to engage in meaningful conversations on substance use prevention and mental health with their children.
This event was made possible by the generosity of Mark and Theresa Kaplan, who founded Mission for Marcus in memory of their son, Marcus Kaplan. Marcus passed away from an accidental overdose in 2019 at the age of 33 after a long struggle with opioid use disorder. He was a 2004 graduate of Bethlehem Central High School.
This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30pm for pizza and refreshments. We hope to see you there to listen, learn, and engage in this very important conversation.
