Had no license and shoved officer
GLENMONT – A 28-year-old Selkirk woman faces multiple charges, including a felony, after a crash on Feura Bush Road on Sunday, Feb. 9 and she was allegedly drunk and did not have a valid license.
According to reports, Bethlehem police responded to 504 Feura Bush Road at 2:17 a.m. and found a gray Honda CRV on top of a wooden structure in the lawn of the residence after a collision with a mailbox. Officers found the driver, Ashley Houk, inside the residence and she showed signs of intoxication.
Officers observed that Houk had impaired speech, had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her and her behavior was erratic. She admitted to officers that she was driving the vehicle and then became aggressive and then approached and shoved one of the officers.
Houk was handcuffed and taken into custody. At the police station, Houk refused to perform field sobriety tests and provide a breath sample for a pre-screening device. She also refused to provide a breath sample three times for a calibrated device.
During the booking process, Houk was handcuffed to the booking table at the police station and stood up and pushed the table across the floor, prompting officers to eventually put her in a holding cell after she physically resisted.
An investigation found that Houk did not have a valid license. Police contacted the vehicle’s owner and it was towed from the scene.
Houk was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation with alcohol or drugs, a felony, and DWI, a misdemeanor, and ticketed for failing to keep right, speeding, and refusing to take a breath test.
Due to her erratic behavior, Houk was arraigned by Bethlehem Town Judge Andrew Kirby at 6:14 a.m. and was given a bill of particulars. She is scheduled to return to Bethlehem Town Court on Tuesday, March 4.
