Thomas McLaughlin, of Albany, pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a felony, in Albany County Court Tuesday, March 24, according to District Attorney David Soares. The Albany County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant on March 31, 2014, at a Western Avenue home in the Town of Guilderland. While police were searching the premises for the narcotics investigation, McLaughlin entered the home claiming to be there to fix the plumbing. Police searched McLaughlin and reportedly found him in possession of 1.8 pounds of marijuana and a loaded Glock handgun. McLaughlin faces three years in state prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision, when sentenced on May 19, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
