Authorities arrested half of a duo that allegedly attempted to rob a taxi cab driver, but authorities are still seeking the second suspect.
A Capitaland Taxi car was transporting two young men to Crossgates Mall Tuesday, Feb. 17, and arrived at its destination around 8:40 p.m. at the Cafe Court parking area. Once stopped, an unidentified suspect allegedly pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the driver and demanded money.
Guilderland police arrived on scene and arrested Eric N. Hines, 16, of Albany, and charged him with attempted robbery in the second degree, a felony, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree. Hines was arraigned Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, in Guilderland Town Court.
Police are still searching for the second suspect, described as a young black male wearing all black, who reportedly fled the scene on foot with the handgun. Authorities were unable to locate him during an extensive search of the surrounding area.
