State Police stopped a driver for speeding on the Northway and discovered him to have more than a pound of marijuana in his vehicle.
Abraham Rios, 40, of Bronx, was allegedly speeding on I-87 in the Town of Guilderland on Saturday, June 7, and driving with a suspended license, according to police. The only passenger was a 25-year-old woman with a learner’s permit, police said.
Before Rios’ vehicle was towed, police allegedly found more than a pound of marijuana in his vehicle.
Police arrested both the pair, but the woman was released without being charged.
Rios was charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree, a felony, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree.
Rios was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and remanded to the Albany County jail on $10,000 bail. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, June 12.
