Two Trustco Banks approximately 6.2 miles apart were robbed within minutes of one another last week, according to police reports.
Guilderland police said the Trustco Bank in Star Plaza was robbed on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at approximately 5:50 p.m. Two men entered the bank together and one allegedly handed a note a teller behind the counter.
No weapons were displayed and the suspects left on foot into the parking with an undetermined amount of money.
Rotterdam police at 5:58 p.m. responded to a robbery at the Trustco Bank at 1900 Altamont Ave. Police described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and of medium build, wearing all black clothing.
The man was last seen running north on Altamont Avenue from the bank, according to police. No weapons were displayed and an undetermined amount of money was taken.
Police don’t believe the people performed the two robberies, but authorities are still investigating whether the incidents are connected. The two banks are approximately 7.5 miles apart if using Route 146, or about a 15-minute drive by car.
