A routine visit to the home of a Delmar man on parole led to his arrest after heroin was found in the home, police said.
Daren Altimari, 28, of 441 Kenwood Ave., was arrested on Tuesday, May 29, after police and officials from the Albany County Jail noticed he appeared to be under the influence of a substance during the visit. A search of the home found 10 small wax bags filled with heroin worth about $140, nine hypodermic needles filled with heroin, 100 empty wax bags and a digital scale. A suboxone pill, an opiate, was also found.
Altimari was charged with criminal possession of a controlled in the third degree, a felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor, criminal possession of hypodermic instruments, a misdemeanor, and criminal use of drug packaging, a misdemeanor. Altimari’s parole was immediately revoked, and he was sent to Albany County Jail with no bail set. He will be in court at a later date.
