Two repeat DWI offenders face jail time after pleading guilty in Albany County Court on Tuesday, May 29, according to Albany County District Attorney David Soares’ office.
Michael Lamanna, 57, of Colonie, pleaded guilty to one count of DWI, a felony, stemming from a March 28 incident where he was observed committing `various traffic infractions` by Colonie police and when oficers tried to pull him over, increased his speed and rear-ended another vehicle, according to Soares’ office. Nobody in the other vehicle was seriously injured and Lamanna was found to have a BAC of .33 percent, making it his fifth alcohol related incident, according to Soares’ office.
Lamanna faces 1 1/3 to four years in State Prison, license revocation, Ignition Interlock Device for three years upon release from jail and $1,520 in fines at a June 26 sentencing.
Brian Burkins, 46, of Albany, also pleaded guilty to one count of DWI, a felony, stemming from a March 15 incident where he drove the wrong way on a one-way portion of Lexington Avenue in the City of Albany and was found to have a BAC of .15 percent, nearly double the legal limit, according to Soares’ office. The incident was Burkins’ fifth alcohol related conviction and he faces one to three years in State Prison, license revocation, Ignition Interlock Device for three years upon release from jail and $1,520 in fines when sentenced July 10, according to Soares.
