A Colonie man who died Wednesday evening after crashing and overturning his vehicle was speeding, said Lt. Ken Pero of the Colonie Police Department.
`We know that speed was one of the factors for sure,` said Pero. `We won’t know until toxicology comes back if drugs or alcohol was involved.`
He said it typically takes six to eight weeks for toxicology results to be returned.
According to Pero, it was around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, when Joseph Zsuzsics, 31, of Colonie, struck a parked Ford Explorer and then continued down Maryland Avenue where he struck a full size Dodge Ram pickup, which sent him airborne and caused his car to flip and land on the roof. Pero said the roads were dry at the time of the crash.
Zsuzsics was the only person in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police reports.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information to contact the department at 783-2744.
Since Maryland Avenue is a side street, Pero said so far there have been no eyewitnesses to the crash, though some residents heard the first one.
`Some residents heard the first crash but none actually saw,` said Pero.
