Bethlehem police say a man armed with a knife and a gun was apprehended yesterday in a church after fleeing a Selkirk home.
Police were summoned to a home on Hackett Street at about 5:45 p.m. with a report of a man threatening a resident with the two weapons.
Police said Taylor P. Vatalaro, 20, of Coeymans Hollow, fled the area prior to police arriving but was apprehend 2 ½ hours later inside the Bethlehem Community Church in Delmar, after a search that involved State Police canine and aviation support.
Vatalaro was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, menacing in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.
