Colonie Police arrested an Albany man in connection with the Nov. 23 burglary of an occupied apartment at the Towers of Colonie on Sunday, Nov. 27, according to information from the police department.
Police arrested Robert J. Merrill, 28, of 72 Newton St. in Albany around 8:39 a.m. on Nov. 27 and charged him with burglary in the second degree, a felony, and attempted grand larceny in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor, according to police.
An investigation revealed that Merrill was a previous tenant of the victim’s apartment and his intent was to commit a larceny, according to police.
Colonie Police were investigating the burglary of an occupied apartment that occurred in the morning on Wednesday, Nov. 23, according to information from the department, when police were called to the Towers of Colonie Building #3 at 424 Sand Creek Road around 7:58 a.m. on Nov. 23 after a woman reported that a man had entered her apartment. The woman said she awoke to the suspect in her apartment but the suspect fled upon being spotted and no weapon or threat was made and nothing was stolen, said police.
