Altamont Country Values is a small, family-owned business, supplying the area with backyard farm, garden, pet and farm animal goods.
Local focus is key at the store, located at 106 Prospect Terrace in Altamont.
“I try to buy as much stuff locally as possible to try to get local economy going” said Dan Dymes, the store’s owner.
As The Altamont Country Values is a privately owned business, Dymes is dedicated to supporting other local, private businesses like his own.
The store first opened in the 1940s as part of the Agway Company. When the Altamont Agway was about to be shut down and sold by the company in 2000, Dymes decided to buy the place and run it as a private business.
Dymes has now been operating the business independently for the last 15 years. Some of Dymes’ 10 employees have even been there the whole 15 years with him.
With that kind of experience, it is the employees’ knowledge of farming, gardening and pets that makes Altamont Country Values the beloved business that it is today.
“The biggest part of our business is service. It’s what distinguishes us from the competition,” said Dymes.
The friendly and knowledgeable staff at Altamont Country Values is more than happy to answer any questions customers might have about gardening, pets and livestock. With their extensive professional knowledge, they’re sure to set you on the right path.
The Altamont Country Values’ dedication to supporting the local business economy is extended into their support of the local community. The store actively supports the 4-H program, donates to the booster clubs of Altamont’s local schools, and supports the Altamont Fair every year.
Altamont Country Values is known across the region for being the best retailer around for farm and garden supplies. The store sells seeds and vegetable plants, fertilizer and lawn supplies, and annuals and perennials: everything that gardeners and farmers — veteran or beginner — need.
It also offers a range of feed for cattle, horses, sheep, goats and chicken that make it possible to provide your livestock with the best nutrition possible.
Maybe its time to finally get around to all of the DIY projects you’ve been meaning to get to? Altamont Country Values offers these supplies, as well as other home improvement and maintenance supplies.
And for your feline and canine friends, as well as birds, the store also offers a vast selection of foods and feeds.
