DELMAR — Drive up. Drop off.
The Bethlehem Central School District is inviting the community to join in the annual Caring and Sharing Food Drive with an easy Drive-Up Drop-Off collection of food at the high school on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Ahead of each holiday break, district families and local businesses donate to Caring and Sharing. The effort provides boxes of food and grocery gift cards to families right here in the BC community. The school district also collects toys and coats on behalf of several student-run clubs at the high school collecting these items for community organizations in the Capital District.
This year’s BC Caring and Sharing 2022 Drive-Up Drop-Off event starts at 9 a.m. from outside the school’s Athletic Entrance. Donors can choose to stay in their cars while volunteers assist with collecting donations.
Food items being collected include instant potatoes, rice, canned vegetable, canned fruit, stuffing mix, Bisquick, instant pudding mix, canned soup, breakfast cereal, spaghetti sauce, pasta, brownie mix, cookie mix, peanut butter, grape jelly, tuna fish and dried fruits.
The event is also helping support several other clubs sponsoring holiday giving drives of their own. One project asks for new, unwrapped toys, games or books for children 18 years old and younger. Another seeks to obtain new or gently-used winter coats. Donations for those endeavors will be handled at the drop-off event.
Other items sought include toilet paper, paper towels and boxed tissues.
If you are a community member or business who would like to make a donation, contact Sherri Fitzpatrick in the district’s Special Education and Student Services department at 518-439-8886, or by email at [email protected]
