ALBANY — All involved with Alive at Five defied imposing rain clouds and took the party out from under the bridge and at Jennings Landing on Thursday, June 23.
The night’s music featured two bands with leading front women, not so uncommon these days, but thanks in part to the headling act, Lita Ford.
Before embarking on a successful solo career, Ford was the lead guitarist for the all-female rock band the Runaways, which included Joan Jett in the late 1970s. After breaking up, Ford collaborated with Ozzy Osbourne on the 1989 single “Close My Eyes Forever.” The song would reach No. 8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
Ford is currently on tour with her band, including bassist Marten Andersson who joined the band after longtime band member Marty O’Brien left last month.
Candy Ambulance, who earned a Thomas Edison Music Award as Alt / Indie Artist of the Year in 2020, opened the evening with a setlist of original music.
