COLONIE — A 19-year corrections officer at the Albany County jail was arrested for felony rape after he allegedly had sexual contact with a woman inmate.
According to Sheriff Craig D. Apple Sr., on Saturday, March 23, the inmate reported three separate assaults over the span of two weeks.
Investigators were able to secure evidence which was then turned over to the State Police for analysis.
On Tuesday, March 26, Michael A. Snyder Sr., 59, of Rensselaerville, was arrested and charged with the felonies of rape and criminal sex act as well as three misdemeanors of official misconduct and one count of misdemeanor sex abuse.
He was slated to be arraigned in Colonie Town Court.
