SCHENECTADY — The Waters Edge Lighthouse Restaurant prides itself in its fresh food, outstanding service and riverside scenery. The staff welcomes you to a dining experience that is 20 feet from the shore, overlooking the Mohawk River.
General manager Joe Popolizio’s family purchased the restaurant in 2004 and opened in 2005 after a major renovation. The family is incredibly conscientious about the quality of food and service that they provide.
“A customer could have 100 great experiences at a restaurant, and all is good,” he continued. “If a customer has one bad experience, however, they might never come back.”
This forces the Popolizio family to really think about the level of service they provide, adding that they hold their staff at a high standard and ensure everyone is on the same page. As a result, this has lead to a huge amount of loyal customers.
“We have a wide variety of menu items that feature seafood, steak, and pasta, as well as numerous options for vegans and those following a gluten-free diet,” he said. “Something for everyone really.”
“We also have a list of local brews and drinks for people to try,” he said. “We really try to keep everything, from food to drinks, as local as possible.”
A manager’s favorite? The Cioppino, a San Francisco-style seafood stew made with lobster, shrimp, scallops and other tantalizing varieties of shellfish. This dish is a smorgasbord of flavor and one seafood connoisseurs are sure to love.
“We are fortunate to have an awesome staff that really puts in that extra effort to provide an amazing experience for every customer,” he explained.
