COLONIE — Armed with more than 30 years of experience, optician Thomas Tarasovich is expanding.
Taras Optical has had a shop at 971 Central Ave. in Albany since 1983, and most recently opened a new shop at 1207 Troy Schenectady Road in Latham.
“We will give you the detail and fine workmanship you deserve and we will work hard to get you back as a customer,” he said. “We offer comprehensive eye examinations for general health, eyeglasses and all contact lenses. Our doctors are given as much time as they need to be doctors. We specialize in all eyewear, from mainstream to unique, and our attention to detail is second to none. We also accept other doctors’ prescriptions.”
Tarasovich was an auditor for two years, and the quality he controlled in that position he brought to his own shop rather than work for the large corporations.
“We can offer a personal touch the corporations just don’t care about anymore,” he said.
He and his staff, including his son, who has 20 years of optical experience, want to be your eye care provider.
“We are a family business and as a family business we try harder,” he said. “We got away from the controlling franchisor. We want to cater to the needs of families.”
Taras Optical accepts most insurance providers and if it doesn’t, it will help fill out the necessary paperwork for reimbursement.
The shops are open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
