ALBANY — The Albany Distilling Company, Inc.  announced Sonia Castellani from Saratoga Springs’ Hamlet & Ghost as the winner of its second annual Albany Distilling Cocktail Competition.

Castellani defeated Abena Okyere (Speakeasy 518, Albany), Lindsey Miller (Brown’s Brewing, Troy), and Josh Mackenburg (Rare Craft Steak House, Schenectady) in the finals. More than 100 attended the finals held at the ADCo Bar & Bottle Shop on Saturday, April 21.

The five-week long competition pitted bartenders from various bars and restaurants throughout the Capital District against each other in a battle using Albany Distilling spirits. The contests took place at Slidin’ Dirty in Schenectady, Brown’s Brewing in Troy, City Beer Hall in Albany, and Morrissey’s in Saratoga Springs.

Judges included Albany Distilling co-owners John Curtin and Rick Sicari, 2017 Cocktail Competition Champion Jeff Krenn, and regionally-known bartenders Emmanuel Treski and Katy Atchison.

Castellani’s winning cocktails, to be announced in the coming days, will be featured at the ADCo Bar & Bottle Shop.

The Albany Distilling Company, Inc. (“ADCo”) is the first licensed distillery in Albany, since the beginning of Prohibition. ADCo’s main production facility is located at 78 Montgomery St. in Downtown Albany, just a short distance away from location of Albany’s first distillery which was established in the mid-eighteenth century. ADCo’s owners are passionate for craft distilling and proud to celebrate Albany’s history through their craft.
